Learning to Love The Journey As I Continue To Love The Lord...
It has been a long year. In fact, it has been over a nine months since my last post, which is crazy to think! Oh how much time flies…
One of the paradoxes of social media is that when you utilize and maximize it routinely, it can seemingly depict so much of what is going on in your life. Yet sometimes, the seasons where you have the most going on are simply too full to be able to capture and upload it all in consistent post's alone.
The past year has been a roller coaster, full of both open and closed doors. It has been a year of resilience, of being broken down, of finding my way, and then finding it again and again.
Somewhere along the road, I was ordained as a minister, accepted into a Master of Divinity program, and accepted into a law program at an HBCU. Oh and how could I forget I also moved out of my hometown. In that, however betwen the lines of all the good I also experienced rejection from multiple law schools, decided to take a second gap year, redirected my career path, and felt unsure about whether or not I was making the right decisions for my life, ministry, and career on many different occasions.
Eventually on that road, I made the difficult decision to choose God’s will over my own. And let me just say, that it has been the best, not the easiest, but the best decision I have made.
The last year has been so much, a blessing, an endurance test, a trying season; it has refined me, strengthened me, broken me down, and built me back up. Nonetheless, even if it would have been more comfortable, it is hard to think about what I would have changed even if I could because every part of it was crucial to the process.
I’m learning that, just like it says in Proverbs 16:9, “The mind of a person plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
In the past year, one thing I can say with certainty is that God’s Word has been a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, directing each and every step. I’m learning to love the journey more than the milestones, after all, when you think about it, that is where we spend the most of our time.
In this moment, the journey looks like pursuing a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Spiritual Formation & Discipleship, studying for the LSAT some more, and praying for ministerial opportunities that will better shape my vocation and direction within law.
The journey has taught me that what is most important to me is that I remain faithful to God’s vision for my life, staying aligned with His will. No matter what I do, I never want to lose hold of my faith or my faithfulness, even if it is tried to it's maximum. In all that I do, may the Lord be glorified. And in all that He does, may I be strengthened and fortified so that the journey doesn’t break me, but instead it continues to shapes me in becoming the woman of God has called me to be.
Maybe that will look like Deborah, or maybe it will look like Abigail. Maybe like Esther, Priscilla, Lydia, or Mary Magdalene. Or maybe it’ll just look like me, Ebaisin, with my own original story.
No matter what the journey looks like & no matter what it entails, I say
Yes, Lord. Yes.
To Your will and to Your way!
